KSG Strategic Consulting Participates in the Martin
Luther King, Jr. Day of Service at King High School in
Philadelphia, PA, Attends Safe Schools Session
(January 18, 2005) KSG Strategic Consulting participated in the Safe Corridors program
during the Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. day of service at the Martin Luther King, Jr. High
School in Philadelphia, PA.
Led by Ed Schwartz, founder and president of the Institute for the Study of Civic Values,
the Safe Corridors session illustrated ways that school officials, community members,
parents, and businesses can help increase school safety, and decrease potential violence and
student misbehavior.
During the program, Mr. Schwartz discussed in detail the “social contract” area school
officials and community leaders signed, pledging their commitment to safe schools and
neighborhoods. Citing that the Safe Corridors program is a “blue print” for those who’ve
pledged their support to “build a kind of alliance,” to keep youth safe who travel to and
from schools.
Audience members, including representatives from the 14th Police District and
Pennsylvania State Representative Dwight Evans’ office, shared existing efforts to engage
youth in activities to thwart violence in school and their communities.
Mr. Schwartz stated that the Safe Corridors program has three primary goals: to enlist the
support of people who are committed to keeping schools safe, prevention of school violence,
and remediation for student offenders.
“It is critical for community leaders and businesses to have a positive impact in the
communities in which we live and work. KSG Strategic Consulting is proud to be affiliated
with an initiative aimed at keeping students safe and engaged in nonviolent activities,” said
KSG Strategic Consulting founder and CEO, Kesi Stribling.
Ms. Stribling signed the Safe Schools Campaign Pledge during the day of service at the
Martin Luther King, Jr. High School, committing her business to “actively participate in
programs and events aimed at increasing safety in and around (Philadelphia) schools.
