Representative Dwight Evans
(December 17, 2004) KSG Strategic Consulting participated in a political awareness session
led by Pennsylvania State Representative Dwight Evans at the Enterprise Center on
December 16, 2004.
Representative Evans, a West Oak Lane-based politician responsible for the creation of the
$4 million Ogontz Avenue business revitalization initiative, stressed the importance of
businesses initiating communication with local politicians. Evans suggested that business
owners have “Government Day,” during which they meet with their political
representatives, and find out more about the work they’re doing for constituents.
Evans also encouraged building political activism into participants’ business plans. By
making politics a specific section of the business plans, companies will charge themselves
with the task of staying abreast of the political and social issues that could impact business
growth, financial success, employee issues, and transportation concerns.
Citing the well-publicized budget crisis the South Eastern Pennsylvania Transportation
Authority (SEPTA) recently underwent – almost leading to a strike by workers,
Representative Evans asserted that transportation problems could have affected the
transportation of thousands of workers, including employee absence and tardiness.
