KSG Strategic Consulting Helps Client Win $19,000
Rotary International Grant
(July 9, 2004) KSG Strategic Consulting helps client, Shaunna L. Payne, win a $19,000
educational grant from prestigious organization, Rotary International.
A resident of Staunton, Virginia, Payne will represent her Rotary district as a Cultural
Ambassador Scholar, and will use the scholarship funding to participate in an intensive
Spanish language program from 2005-2006 in Mexico, Ecuador, or Costa Rica.
Payne, a consultant who helps women pageant contestants cultivate their platforms, looks
forward to the Rotary program, which is often compared to the renowned Fulbright and
Rhodes scholarships. “Through my numerous speaking engagements abroad and in the U.
S. that are required by the Rotary Foundation, it will be such a blessing to find myself fully
literate in Spanish,” said an enthusiastic Payne.
“I have never traveled abroad, so I think the biggest thing that I can gain from this
program is openness and greater tolerance of the human spirit,” Payne continued. She also
added that participation in the program will highlight “more similarities than differences in
the human race, regardless of background, culture, or language barriers.”
The process to become a Rotary scholar was intensive. After being sponsored by a current
Rotary member, submitting the comprehensive application and supporting documentation,
and participating in interviews, Shaunna Payne beat the competition.
To prepare for the arduous task of competing for the Rotary scholarship, Payne enlisted the
services of KSG Strategic Consulting to help her gain a competitive advantage. “KSG
Strategic Consulting made this scholarship possible. (The company) analyzed the numerous
tasks that were required to complete the scholarship application, prioritized the tasks, and
paired (them) with concise deadlines,” Payne opined. Working with KSG Strategic
Consulting “set me apart from the extremely qualified applicant pool.” Payne continued.
Kesi Stribling, founder and president of KSG Strategic Consulting, said “We are so excited
for Shaunna because participating in this revered program is a rarity. Ms. Payne certainly
has the credentials to successfully compete for the Rotary program, and will be an exemplar
of the type of student Rotary International typically supports: intelligent, enthusiastic, and
well-spoken.”
Tom Cracas, Director of International Service of the Staunton Rotary Club, concurs. “I am
delighted that Shaunna received a Cultural Ambassadorial Scholarship from Rotary. She is
a charming young woman who is intelligent and well-educated. We look forward to her
leadership as a Rotarian in (the) coming years.”
Founded in 1905, Rotary International is a global organization that provides humanitarian
service, encourages high ethical standards in all vocations, and helps build goodwill and
peace in the world. There are 1.2 million members of Rotary International, in 166 countries.
